This is an independent research map. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or verified by Chatham County, any municipality, or any other government agency.
Collecting listing data from Airbnb can take several weeks. Listings may change or become unavailable before collection and review are finished, so some links may already be inactive.
Addresses, license matches, research statuses, and other conclusions shown here are speculative, may be incomplete or inaccurate, and should not be treated as official findings. Please use the reporting and correction options on listing cards to submit updated information.
This is only an estimate based on listings currently categorized as having no license found. It does not establish that a license was legally required, that a fee was unpaid, or that the listing was operating.
Tax revenue is also uncertain. Without complete, property-level tracking, taxes could be remitted to an incorrect agency, and this independent project has no way to verify whether taxes were collected, owed, or distributed correctly.
Why jurisdiction boundaries matter
A 2026 report describes a Hochatown, Oklahoma lawsuit alleging that lodging taxes were routed to neighboring Broken Bow because Hochatown properties use Broken Bow’s ZIP code. The report says Hochatown collects approximately $4.35 million in lodging taxes annually, while the exact amount allegedly misdirected remains unknown. The map’s ZIP-code and jurisdiction-overlap tools are provided to help identify places where postal and government boundaries differ; they do not prove that any tax was routed incorrectly. Read the Hochatown report.
Tax-collection context

A 2020 Georgia lawsuit alleged that Airbnb failed to collect and remit occupancy taxes claimed by participating municipalities. These were allegations, not findings stated by this map. Source
Mission Local reports that Airbnb settled its lawsuit seeking about $120 million in San Francisco business-tax refunds for $0. Source
Airbnb states that it collects Georgia state, local sales, hotel-motel, and locally imposed occupancy taxes on qualifying reservations, and its general guidance says collection and remittance availability varies by jurisdiction. Even where Airbnb collects and remits taxes, this map cannot confirm property-level amounts or the receiving agency without sufficiently detailed public records.
